SAWACO dedicates part of its earnings for R&D activities. 
The first aim and purpose of R&D is directed towards ;
1-Water Recovery From Brine 
2- Introducing renewable energy to SAWACO plants 
3- Reducing the power consumption per m3 
4- producing ultra pure water as per customers need. 

To this end , SAWACO invested in new technologies with companies like Gradiant from the US, Current Water Technologies Inc from Canada etc and conducted research with KAUST students  and leading membrane manufacturers . 

SAWACO aims at producing water with minimum impact on the environment while satisfying a wide spectrum of water qualities to suit the needs of people and businesses alike.
