Our Plants

Desalination capacity across the Western Region.

SAWACO owns and operates its own seawater and brackish water desalination plants, supplying potable water for domestic and industrial use 24 hours a day, throughout the year. Every plant runs microfiltration pretreatment and reverse osmosis membranes under PLC control with SCADA monitoring.

South Jeddah Corniche Desalination Plant (SOJECO)

A seawater plant on Jeddah’s South Corniche, adjacent to Jeddah Industrial City Phase 2 and covering 22,000 m². Commissioned at 10,000 m³/day in 2011 and increased to 15,000 m³/day in 2017. The desalination system draws from 10 beach wells and includes a boron removal stage and four product water tanks holding 10,000 m³.

North Obhur

SAWACO’s plant in North Obhur, around 45 km from downtown Jeddah, has been in operation since December 2001 and serves over 6,000 customers. Capacity now stands at 15,350 m³/day, drawing raw seawater from 13 beach wells across six SWRO operating units on a 14,400 m² site.

Corniche RO Plant (CROP)

A seawater plant on Corniche Road in Al Shati District, Jeddah, running on a 24/7 basis with a capacity of 4,500 m³/day. Raw seawater is drawn from five beach wells and treated across three SWRO operating units.

SAWACO Store City Plant (SSCity)

Located in the Chamber of Commerce Warehouse City in Al Khumrah, Jeddah, and the newest addition to SAWACO’s network. A brackish water plant supplying 5,000 m³/day of potable water for domestic and industrial applications.

Distribution

Product water reaches customers either through food grade SS316L tankers or directly by pipeline, backed by a fleet of more than 100 trucks covering a 10,000 km² area of the Western Region.
